My name is Ian Colley and I am a working freelance photographer located on the south side of Brisbane, specialising in Real Estate and Architecture photography, however this blog covers all aspects of my photography including my Sport and Landscape photography and any specials that I might have on photos or gallery prints from recent events.
Mt Cotton Hillclimb Series 2017 Round 1
Round 1 of the Mt Cotton Hillclimb series was held on the last weekend of February on another perfect Qld day. Summer's over, thank you !
It was an interesting meeting, a few quick regulars missing but a couple of new ones to replace them made up a good sized field. I managed to attend Sunday only for what was great day of competition with no major delays. One open wheeler into the nuts and that was about it.
I spent most of the day doing something a little different, I like to shoot tight-ish normally but I thought I'd shoot real tight instead. Hopefully I had a successful day. I have attached half a dozen from the day.

Come and Try/Test and Tune Jan 2017
Last Sunday saw the first event for the year at Mt Cotton Hillclimb. A Come and Try morning for newcomers to the sport and then a Test and Tune afternoon for the regulars.
I didn't arrive until after 10:30am so missed most of the Come and Try starters and it was a practise day for me too. I was trying out a new camera body, comparing it with the two bodies I usually take with me on these days. So it was a day playing with different settings on different camera bodies and lenses, meaning a few missed opportunities and not as many photos as usual. Didn't make a decision about the new body yet, I need to get one to the Jet Boat racing to see how it performs there.

Last Mt Cotton round for the year
Round 6 of the Carric Accounting and Tighe Cams Mt Cotton Hillclimb series was run in typical summer conditions here in sunny qld - hot, extremely hot !
A huge field competed in the last round for 2016 and because there were no major delays during the day, other than a couple of stoppages to remove a goanna from the track, the drivers got more runs than I think they expected considering the 100 odd entrants. The open wheeler boys put on a great display breaking into the 37's.

Mt Cotton Round 6 2016
The last round of the Mt Cotton Hillclimb series for 2016 is upon us this weekend and I believe the entry list is huge, great to see.
I am only going to be able to get to Sunday's competition and plan on doing some video as well as the usual photos. Hoping for fine weather all day and no afternoon thunderstorms.
I have prepared a framed gallery print for the MG Car Club of Brisbane to raffle, here's the finished product. A 16" x 20" frame with one 8" x 10" and three 5" x 7" photos.

Temora photos done
I managed to get the last of the photos uploaded to my Temora galleries last Sunday night. I keep saying this but I have to be more economical when shooting so I can turn the photos around faster. Anyway here's the link to the photos
The night racing at Temora wasn't as well lit as I had hoped and there were big differences in the light at various parts of the track, particularly through the centre. Not as well lit as Baypark in NZ. I had to use the EM1 with the 35 - 100 f2 instead of the E5 and 50 - 200 SWD because of the better high ISO performance which left me shooting a bit wide but you get that. Here are a couple of shots with reflections from the night racing I liked. Bring on next season.
