Large Custom Framed Print

October 15, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

I recently finished a large custom framed print for one of the V8 Jetsprint competitors.

Thought I would show it here so people could see the type of finished product I enjoy preparing for customers.

This framed gallery print is 24" x 29" with the main photo a 16" x 20" print. The other photos are 5" x 7" and the plaque has been specially made in orange to match the boat.

The customer is extremely happy with the finished product (all three of them). So if any other competitors would like a similar finished product please call me to discuss what you would like and I can arrange a quote.

Round 5 SRA-TSA Hillclimb series

October 04, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

The last weekend in September saw the running of round 5 of the 2015 hillclimb series. I only attended Sunday's competition and the day was cut short due to an afternoon thunderstorm rolling in just after 2pm. As a result of that storm I only managed to shoot 3 runs on the day.

It was an interesting day from a photography aspect with recent excavation work carried out at the track allowing access to previously difficult places to shoot. There has been ongoing work all year, all of it making photography a bit easier not to mention providing a bit more run off room for drivers making the track a little safer.

The most recent changes around the 1st loop allowed some different shots from the usual and the changes also allowed more light on to the track. Much better for photography and I suspect better conditions for drivers to see without the usual heavy shade going through that section.

Here are a few photos from the new vantage point.

The rest of the photos can be found here.

Custom Made Gallery print

August 19, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

I have just finished a custom made gallery print for one of the hillclimb boys.

It's a 5 shot sequence of him sideways around the 2nd loop at the Mt Cotton track from the Queensland Hillclimb Championships earlier this year.

The finished frame has five 6" x 9" photos surrounded in a double black mat inside a black timber frame with a silver insert on the frame. Total height of the frame is just over 1 metre and width is approximately 40 cm.

If anyone would like a custom frame made up, any size, any shape, any photos, don't hesitate to call for a quote.

V8 Superboats Round 4 photos finished (well nearly)

August 13, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

I have, for the most part, finished sorting through, culling, and uploading downsized photos to my web site from both days of racing.

I will be adding at a later date some larger edited photos, some of my faves, to additional galleries but for the time being, done. Phew !

The morning session on Sunday started out with some quick times and was mishap free but it was after lunch when all the action happened. Everyone must have come back from lunch with Red Mist in their eyes. Quite a few boats ended up out of the water and upside down with Excalibur, Mongrel and the Kanaris Engines Racing team providing some extra excitement for spectators. The good thing, nobody hurt and surprisingly Excalibur even managed to keep running the rest of the day considering the size of the crash.

Photos from the event can be found here.

I have attached a few cropped and lightly edited photos of the action below

V8 Superboats Round 4 Done and Dusted

August 10, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

Round 4 of the AFJSA and Tweed Coast Jet Sprint Club V8 Superboats was held in some great winter weather last weekend.

A flowing track layout had some high speeds and quick times being achieved on both practise day and race day.

Ramjet took out Superboat honours for the weekend with Grumpy winning the 400's and Evil As taking out the 350 class trophy.

I have, as usual, many thousands of photos to sift through and cull, managing to get through Saturday's photos tonight. They then have to be sorted into boats and then I'm on to Sunday's racing. I will try to get them done by the weekend, I've got some work ahead of me !

Anyway, here are a couple of Kamakazi from Saturday. The photos are of 3 different launches off the start line from 3 runs and 3 lots of air with the last showing the boat nearly completely out of the water. Gotta love it.
