My name is Ian Colley and I am a working freelance photographer located on the south side of Brisbane, specialising in Real Estate and Architecture photography, however this blog covers all aspects of my photography including my Sport and Landscape photography and any specials that I might have on photos or gallery prints from recent events.
Round 6 of the V8 Jetsprints
Round 6 of the AFJSA V8 Jetsprint series was held at Cabarita on the 21st and 22nd of November, courtesy of the Tweed Valley Jetsprint Club. It was a great weekend of competition on a longer than usual track layout.
The series had already been won by Phonsy Mullan and Kelsey Gill in Ramjet and they sat the weekend out after Phonsy had undergone more surgery on his legs.
The weekend was won by NZ racers Rob Coley and his navi Kellie Minell in Poison Ivy, a wickedly fast boat with a 705 cu in motor putting out about 1200 hp. They did it the hard way too, getting back out there after a huge crash in heat round 5.
The 350 Class was won by Jake Garlick and his navi in Evil As and Damien O'Leary and his navi won the Group A 400 Class.
As usual I took heaps of photos and they have been culled, sorted and culled again and will be loaded up to my web site during this week.

CAMS 2016 Manual Cover shot
I got some news last week that made me very happy. A photo of mine was selected in the final six from submissions from all around Australia to be featured on the front cover of the CAMS Manual for 2016. Luckily enough for me a lot of other people liked my photo as well and a week later it was selected as the winner of the competition. A great result for me and my offbeat choice of camera gear and some good PR for the Mt Cotton Hillclimb where the photo was taken. The owner of the car is pretty chuffed as well.
Here is the notification that CAMS put on Facebook letting all CAMS members know the result of the competition.

New Framed Gallery Prints
I finished the framed gallery prints for the last rounds of the V8 Jetboats and Mt Cotton Hillclimb.
The jet boat meeting was held last weekend and the hillclimb is on this weekend, hopefully the winners of each of the frames enjoy them.

Noosa Classic Hillclimb 2015
I finally managed to go to Noosa to photograph the Classic Hillclimb last Sunday. It is a two day event but I could only get there for Sunday's competition. Unfortunately the first half of the day was raining so action was a little reserved. After lunch the weather cleared up and the track dried out and some of the best times of the weekend were put down on Sunday arvo.
There was an amazing array of race cars from all eras with some exotics thrown in for good measure. The number of entrants was amazing too, with 159 cars entered for the event.
I had a great time but need to go a few more times to get familiar with the track and the better vantage points available at the track.

Come and Try day
Saturday of last week saw a Come and Try and Test and Tune Day at Mt Cotton Hillclimb.
It was a great day, superb weather with plenty of newbies trying their hand at hillclimb during the morning session and a Test and Tune for the regular hillclimbers after lunch.
I spent most of the day at the hairpin mucking around with slow shutter speeds which made it difficult to catch the sequence below but overall I had a satisfying day. The photos below were taken at 1/100 of a second, ok for normal panning but not able to stop the rolling and vertical motion of the buggy unfortunately.
