My name is Ian Colley and I am a working freelance photographer located on the south side of Brisbane, specialising in Real Estate and Architecture photography, however this blog covers all aspects of my photography including my Sport and Landscape photography and any specials that I might have on photos or gallery prints from recent events.
2016 Qld Hillclimb Championships run and won
Luckily the nasty weather on Friday and even nastier weather on Saturday cleared for a bright and sunny race day on Sunday, albeit cold and windy.
The weekend was won by Malcolm Oastler who only managed to post two times on Sunday, crashing on his third run. His times were so quick in his first two runs he was never headed the rest of the day by any other competitors.
There were a couple of other notable events, Neil Lewis having a brake rotor split and fly apart and finding out he had no brakes into the hairpin, so straight through the nuts he went. Mark Crespan in the Cobra suffered a drive shaft failure that broke fuel lines starting a big fire under his car with flames leaping into the cockpit of the car. He got out ok and marshals put the fire out quickly.

2016 Qld Hillclimb Championships
I have finished the frame for the 2016 Qld Hillclimb Championships to be held the first weekend in June at Mt Cotton.
It has photos from last years event and if the winner/recipient of the frame would like photos from this years QHC to put in the frame I will edit four photos of their choice and supply them with the digital images ready for them to print and place inside the frame.
The frame is 16" x 20" with one 8" x 10" and three 5" x 7" prints. This is what it looks like.
Mt Cotton Interclub Challenge 2016
Saturday the 14th May saw the running of another Mt Cotton Hillclimb "Interclub Challenge". It was a great day weather and competition wise.
There were many cars not normally seen at the usual rounds of the hillclimb series.

Harvest Transport UIM World Champs crash print
I finally got around to doing the first of hopefully many large composite prints from the 2016 UIM World Series Jetsprint Championships held in New Zealand earlier this year.
The first one finished is Harvest Transport's massive crash on qualifying day, Friday, at Baypark Stadium. It would have to rate as one of the most spectacular jet boat crashes I have seen. Unfortunately the boat was out for the rest of the championship but it was great to see the driver and navi walk away a bit shaken up but otherwise unhurt. Says a lot for the strength and integrity of the boats and the safety equipment in place.
This photo sequence, possibly the only photos taken of the crash showing the boat and its video image on the big screen at the same time, is available for sale as a 16" x 20" (40cm x 50cm) print for $125 (AUD) until the end of May 2016. It's normal price is $150 (AUD). This price is for a print only and excludes delivery. I will post to Australia, New Zealand, U.S. , Canada and any other country Australia Post will deliver to.

Round 1 Mt Cotton Hillclimb series 2016
The first round of the 2016 Mt Cotton Hillclimb series was held last weekend in very hot conditions and I was feeling it after going up and down the hill a couple of times. It was great to see a decent number of cars entered with quite a few new ones as well. The series has a couple of new major sponsors this year, Carric Accounting & Business Service and Tighe Cams. Thank you in advance for your support for the year ahead.
I only managed to get to racing on Sunday and tried to keep my photo numbers down a bit to speed up my processing time after the event. I also played a little bit with some slower shutter speeds at this meeting which would also reduce my keepers. The photos were uploaded to my web site by Wednesday night so my plan must have worked. (grin)
