My name is Ian Colley and I am a working freelance photographer located on the south side of Brisbane, specialising in Real Estate and Architecture photography, however this blog covers all aspects of my photography including my Sport and Landscape photography and any specials that I might have on photos or gallery prints from recent events.
Round 3 TSA - SRA Mt Cotton Hillclimb
It's taken a couple of days longer than I thought to get the photos finished, been very busy lately with house shoots, but I have finally uploaded all the photos from Round 3 to my galleries here
It was another day of trying to keep the shutter speeds as low as possible and still get sharp photos.
I couldn't get to Saturdays competition but the hairpin and the nuts saw some more action with Paul Van Wijk going into and over the nuts. He was ok except for a cut leg, good news. The nuts showing their worth again.
Sunday saw clear skies and another great day of competition. Warwick Hutchinson took outright honours for the day. There were a couple interesting moments in the day that I caught on camera. The yellow Escort of Jeff and Alex Daniels got very loose on the uphill kink before turning into the 2nd loop. I'm not sure who was driving but they showed some good skills keeping it together and Shane Merrick who is always getting plenty of air and just a little loose on occasion ran off the black stuff coming out of the 2nd loop putting an early end to his last lap of the day. Fortunately no damage done in either off.
I also finished the framed gallery print for the QHC round next month. I have included a photo of the frame (16" x 20") below that I believe will be raffled at the event. The winner can leave the photos in or replace them easily with their own if they wish.

Round 2 TSA-SRA Mt Cotton Hillclimb done and dusted
Another great Sunday of competition at Mt Cotton. A big field of entrants like round 1, with a few new cars, a couple of quick Escorts I hadn't seen before.
The track was in great condition and there were some very quick times, with a few class records broken. Warwick Hutchinson took out fastest time of the day in his lightning quick open wheeler. It's an amazing car, when he gets off the throttle it has a massive backfire that you can feel through your whole body. Frightens the hell out of you the first few times it happens.
As well as a day of very quick times it was also a day of big accidents. Sunday saw two huge offs. The first being Pierz Harrex in his super quick BMW. He was on a very fast lap and locked everything up coming into the hairpin and it's the only car I have seen go into and over the nuts. Ended up 2m in the air but was pulled up very quickly by the nuts and the catch fence. The other big crash was Barry Smith in his V8 Special. He just went straight into the tyre barrier at the 2nd loop at a fair speed. The car sustained a lot of damage but Barry got out of the car and appeared ok.

Round 2 SRA-TSA Hillclimb Series
Round 2 of the SRA-TSA Hillclimb series is coming up this weekend. Like last round I am working on practise day (Saturday) and won't make it but I will be there all day Sunday. Fingers crossed the weather forecast is not accurate at this point in time because a bit of rain is predicted. If the rain happens we might see a few drivers a little sideways during the course of the day which will make for some interesting photos.
I have had a play with some more photos from last round, adding a little extra motion blur to accentuate the impression of speed. One of the photos has a bit of ghosting as well, I think I like it, I'm not sure.

Round 1, 2015 TSA-SRA Hillclimb Series
Round 1 of the TSA-SRA Hillclimb series was held last weekend in superb weather. A very large field of cars, including plenty of open wheelers made for a great weekend of competition.
I could only get to Sundays racing and decided I would spend the day doing some low shutter speed shots to give the photos some motion blur. Some are going to like the blur in the photos and some aren't, thats ok. Hopefully more like the effect than dislike it, we'll see !

Round 6 TSA-SRA Mt Cotton Hillclimb Series photos finished
